Finger Food String Band - February 11

Award-winning instrumentalists Steve Davison, Micky Rigby, and Danny Dozier of the American fingerstyle string band Finger Food will play guitar and banjo in the next Festival of the Senses event at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in North Little Rock on Tuesday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception in the parish hall for audience members to meet and greet the performers. The church is located at the edge of Park Hill at 4106 JFK Boulevard.

The three musicians, who have been playing together as Finger Food for the past six years, will trade songs and stories about  their compositions and their approach to the guitar, playing solos, duets, and trios on several unique custom-built and historic instruments. Their extensive repertoire is focused on contemporary instrumental American fingerstyle guitar music with folk, jazz, Celtic, classical, and blues influences.

Guitarist and composer Steve Davison was the Arkansas Country Music Awards 2019 Guitarist of the Year and winner of the 2015 Merle Travis Fingerstyle Competition. He also won the 2005 Arkansas Acoustic Music Festival's solo category and has been a featured artist on "AETN Presents." Steve has performed on six-string and twelve-string guitar with such luminaries as Ken Bonfield, Larry Coryell, Muriel Anderson, Peter Janson, and Tim Farrell. In partnership with the Argenta Arts Foundation, he has since 2015 curated a monthly concert series featuring internationally known guitarists at The Joint in downtown North Little Rock.

Arkansan Danny Dozier is a two-time winner of the Merle Travis Fingerstyle Guitar Championship competition at the Ozark Folk Center. His Danny Dozier Band and solo performances showcase a wide range of guitar styles.

Micky Rigby, who plays both guitar and banjo, was a runner-up in the Merle Travis Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Ozark Folk Center. He often performed at the legendary Acoustic Sounds CafĂ© and has been a folk music course leader for LifeQuest educational seminars in Little Rock.

Festival of the Senses, a free performing arts series sponsored by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in North Little Rock as a gift of the arts to the community to entertain, enlighten, and inspire, was created in 2011 and to date has presented more than 70 performances in classical, folk, gospel, jazz, band, piano and choral music, drama, and dance.
